Women often say that they don't need much to be happy, and are just along for the ride wherever it takes them. To an outsider, this sounds great, and they do not go out of their way to ensure that the woman is getting everything they want. Then, it can sometimes come as a surprise when the woman voices needs or wants that have been unmet, and gets upset about them. While it is usually women that this type of scenario is associated with, everyone does it at one point or another.

If you ask many women, they will tell you that men do the exact same thing. It is somewhat natural to be disappointed when you don't get what you want, even if you are trying to be open-minded and have no expectations. A common, but not very serious, example that plagues both men and women is when you say "I can go for anything, surprise me" when someone asks what you want to eat, and then they bring back something that you do not like and you are disappointed. Inevitably, you were hoping that it would be something you enjoy, even if you did not have something specific in mind.
