What Do Ovarian Cancer and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Have in Common?

Symptoms are similar

While there is no causal link to be attributed to polycystic ovarian syndrome, some believe that some ovarian cysts and polycystic ovaries can develop into ovarian cancer. This may be the case in certain situations, but the vast majority of ovarian cysts are regarded as unrelated.

The problem that PCOS and ovarian cancer have in common is that the more serious effects of the condition are very rarely noticed in the early stages, and by the time the condition progresses it can often be too late to properly treat. Also, the symptoms of PCOS and ovarian cancer can often be extremely similar, making it important to be diligent in seeking treatment and advice from a medical professional.
