Like any other treatment, there are risks involved and it doesn't work for everyone

When she initially enrolled in the cancer trial, Perkins was aware of the risks involved. She even sent two of her friends with cancer to Dr. Rosenberg to receive the same therapy and the approach did not work for them - both breast cancer patients had passed away. “I’m one of the lucky ones. We got the right T cells in the right place at the right time. And they went in and ate up all my cancer,” said Perkins.
