Early diagnosis is crucial
Currently, the best defense against ovarian cancer is an early diagnosis. Most women diagnosed early can expect over 90% successful treatment rate. Sadly, most women are not diagnosed early, making ovarian cancer a highly fatal disease. This poor prognosis is also partly due to the fact that ovarian cancer has lagged in funding support behind other types of cancer. This has resulted in challenges faced by researchers who want to help discover better ways to detect and treat this disease. Because of this, ovarian cancer sufferers have to resort to treatments that were discovered decades ago. It's simply not good enough.
