The researchers were, however, able to find some trends regarding women who took one step further after getting the genetic screen. They evaluated whether a woman chose to get follow-up surgery or not after receiving BRCA gene test results. It appeared that women from more urban areas were more likely to follow up with surgical procedures from those from more rural areas. However, the lead author noted that this difference is rapidly narrowing.
