New Marker Could Detect Fatal Breast Cancer Earlier

Could EFC#93 be detectable before the cancer?

The final step of the study was to test to see if abnormal DNA methylation of EFC#93 could diagnosed women with breast cancer before the cancer became conventionally detectable. The blood serum of 925 healthy women was tested, and the patients were monitored for three years. Within the three-year window, 229 women developed and were diagnosed with fatal breast cancer, while 231 were diagnosed with non-fatal breast cancer.
