Ovarian Cancer: The Year in Review

Earlier diagnosis is on the horizon

As was touched on previously, catching ovarian cancer early is important because it allows doctors to begin treatments as soon as possible. Typically, the earlier the treatments are done the higher the survival rate of ovarian cancer patients. However, sometimes diagnosing the condition is not as simple as it seems. While modern medicine has sophisticated tests and criteria for diagnosing ovarian cancer, there still are some cases that go undiagnosed and in other cases women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer without having it (also referred to as a false positive result).
