Study Shows Physical Activity Eases Chemo Brain for Breast Cancer Survivors

How exercise reduces breast cancer risk

The chances of developing breast cancer depend on several factors such as genetics, lifestyle choices, and the surrounding environment. While it is true that there are some things you cannot change, such as aging, there are ways in which you can reduce your risk of breast cancer if you wish to do so. Statistics show that regular physical activity lowers the risk of breast cancer by 10-20%. This means that 4 instead of 5 women out of 40 will develop breast cancer.  Physical activity helps by:

  • Reducing inflammation
  • Lowering hormonal levels of estrogen and insulin
  • Improving the function of the immune system
  • Decreasing digestion time
  • Altering the metabolism of bile acids
  • Preventing obesity
  • Reducing anxiety, fatigue, and depression
  • Preventing and managing other conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, musculoskeletal conditions, and other types of cancer
