Secondary Cytoreductive Surgery May Benefit Platinum-Sensitive Ovarian Cancer Patients

Finding good candidates for the study

One group received the traditional second surgery combined with traditional chemotherapy afterward, while the next group received just chemotherapy alone. Patients all had a positive AGO-score, which ensured that all those enrolled had successful initial surgeries to completely resect their tumors. Because these patients had most of their tumors successfully removed in the first surgery, they are likely the best candidates to skip the second surgery safely.
