Detrice Matthews is another young mother with two children, diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32. Terrified that her memory would be lost if she passed, she began writing as a sort of “diary” for her kids to look back on when she is gone. Her diagnosis was several years ago, and she still blogs regularly. She writes of her life, the struggles of chemotherapy that people don’t normally talk about, and what to expect throughout your journey. She talks of the “unspoken” side of chemo that isn’t listed on the side effects and is talked to you by your physicians. She talks about the fears and the pain she has dealt with, and how there really isn’t any other way to go about it aside from “dealing with it.” Detrice is a fighter, and she wants her kids to know that, and to be happy.
