It's important to people with cancer to not feel ostracized by their own friends and family and one way to prevent that is to maturely acknowledge the elephant in the room. But only if they want to, too. Nobody wants to see their friends and family endure such a terrible disease, even if it's something they themselves experienced first-hand.
