    In most nonurgent elective cases, it has become a same day outpatient procedure where the patient will be monitored for few hours after procedure and will be discharged on the same day with instructions to follow on the procedure site and other symptoms like bleeding. In urgent or with sick patients, patient might have to be monitored from 24 to 72 hours after heart stenting procedure in a hospital setting. READ MORE

Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Senthil Surya Balasubramanian, who serves patients in Evanston, Illinois.

Dr. Balasubramanian is a specialist in non-invasive cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging. 

Currently, he is finalizing his Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship with NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, affiliated with University of Chicago. He graduated from the General Cardiology fellowship in 2023. He was practicing as a Cardiology Hospitalist until 2020 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a nationally ranked academic medical center located on Northwestern University’s Chicago campus in Streeterville, Chicago, Illinois.

Inspired by the cardiologists who saved his father’s life from heart disease at a very young age, he was motivated to pursue a medical career to give back to the community.  With a broad educational background, Dr. Balasubramanian earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree from Thanjavur Medical College in India in 2011. Subsequently, he relocated to the United States, pursuing his residency in Internal medicine at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago from 2015 to 2018. 

Building upon his foundation, Dr. Balasubramanian attained his Master of Science Degree in Clinical Investigations/Research from Northwestern University in 2020. 

An authority in his field, the doctor is board certified in both Cardiovascular disease and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
