Get to know Urologist Dr. Alan Schrager, who serves patients in Mamaroneck, New York.

A board-certified urologist, Dr. Schrager sees patients at his private practice in Mamaroneck, New York. As a urologist, he is highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system.

Offering the highest quality of care and up-to-date technology, he has been performing TUNA treatment for BPH in his office under local anesthesia with great success. He also diagnoses and treats general urological disorders. Despite the onslaught of managed care and the HMO environment, his practice remains devoted to a personalized, caring, individual approach to care for his patients.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Schrager received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Brooklyn College, and graduated with his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He then went on to complete his internship at Kings County Hospital, and his residency in general surgery at the Maimonides Medical Center. Finally, he completed his residency in urology at the Kings County Medical Center & University Hospital.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Schrager has been the recipient of the Top Doctor in New York Metro Area Award (2016-2022), Westchester Magazine Top Doctor Award (2015-2021), and New York Magazine Top Doctor Award (2021, 2022).

Speaking several languages, he is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian.
