As for his educational background, Dr. Eleje started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree at the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in Nigeria in 1981. After relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his internship and residency at University Hospital in 1992 and 1995, respectively.

With over 30 years of experience, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal Medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Internists are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. They care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in education and research.
