Having been working at Caron since June of 2012, Dr. Campo previously served as the Medical Director of The Dunes, East Hampton, New York; Alternatives in Treatment in Southampton, New York and as the Medical Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at Jersey City Medical Center and Psychiatric Emergency Access Center at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. He was also the Associate Medical Director at Gracie Square Hospital in New York City, and an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
A 1984 graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Campo completed his residency in psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in New York. Before long, he became board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
Likewise, he attained board certification in Addiction Medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine, a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues “certificates of special knowledge” in the specialty of preventive medicine.
A Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA) and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM), Dr. Campo is a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, the Palm Beach Psychiatric Society, the Florida Psychiatric Society, the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association and the New York County Psychiatric Society.
A true leader in his field, he has lectured in New York, Florida, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on addiction and co-occurring disorders and has appeared on Fox’s Good Morning America.
