Becoming interested in medicine as a child, Dr. Bhat watched her grandmother practice Ayurvedic Medicine and was supported by her parents and husband through her journey.. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences in 2003. After relocating to the United States, she was involved in research and was able to publish a paper. She went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine at UPMC McKeesport in Pennsylvania. During her residency, she was able to write a chapter for a medical textbook with support of her faculty members. She also graduated with her Master of Business Administration degree from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh in 2019.
Licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Pennsylvania, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Professionally, Dr. Bhat is a member of several medical organizations, including the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP), the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the South Asian Women Physicians of North America.
