Get to know Dr. Bennett Gum, who practices out of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Voted a top dentist for the past several years, Dr. Gum sees patients throughout Hawaii at his private practice in Honolulu.

Born and raised in Honolulu, he graduated from Kaimuki High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington. Upon graduating, he purchased and operated a dental laboratory in Honolulu for eight years, crafting superior crowns and bridgework for several island dentists.

Thereafter, Dr. Gum received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the esteemed University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. His prowess in restorative dentistry earned him the prestigious Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that comprises the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean and restore teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Beyond the walls of his dental practice, Dr. Gum’s creative spirit knows no bounds. An artisan at heart, he dabbles in various media, from intricate stained glass to delicate blown glass. His talents extend to the realms of pen turning and the Japanese art of gyotaku (fish printing). His current interests are crafting ukuleles and learning to make a rocking chair. He has been married for 42 years and is the father of two children and grandfather of three awesome boys.
