Get to know Prosthodontist Dr. Carolina Vera Resendiz, who serves patients in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

A skilled prosthodontist, Dr. Resendiz diagnoses and treats problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. At her private practice in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she and her team offer a variety of general dentistry treatments to help families enjoy a lifetime of beautiful, healthy smiles.

In both oral and overall health, prevention is the best medicine. Therefore, the primary focus of family dental care is preventing dental diseases from developing in the first place. Alongside her clinical role, Dr. Resendiz serves as an Clinical Assistant Professor within the Division of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill.

The Division of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences encompasses the faculty, research fellows, and visiting scholars who generate new knowledge in the basic, applied and clinical sciences, health services, health policy, and health education. Together, this team of researchers discovers ways to improve oral and overall health and collaborates with investigators at UNC-Chapel Hill, across the country and internationally.

Graduating with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the National University of Mexico in 2000, Dr. Resendiz earned a Diploma from the same educational venue in 2003.

Prosthodontics, also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry, is the area of dentistry that focuses on dental prostheses. Prosthodontists specialize in replacing missing teeth and associated oral structures by determining the type of dental prostheses required, having customized dental prostheses manufactured, and fitting them in patients’ mouths. They also treat temporomandibular disorders and various issues associated with damaged and problematic teeth.
