She enjoys her job immensely and work hard to keep abreast of developments in pediatrics; she tries to keep myself as well as the office staff updated. It’s extremely rewarding to participate in the growth of families from the time they have their first baby through high school and college, and in some cases into the next generation.
Royal Oak Pediatrics is a group practice consisting of three board-certified pediatricians, a physician’s assistant and a nurse practitioner. Being in a group practice enables their doctors to maintain greater office flexibility and availability. It is their office policy to follow as closely as possible the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
Throughout her academic career, she completed an undergrad degree at Ohio Wesleyan University with double major in premedicine and philosophy. Dr. Mannisto graduated with her medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in pediatrics at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Continuously advancing her efforts, she is an active member of the Michigan State Medical Society, and the Oakland County Medical Society.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Mannisto has been the recipient of the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2013), and Patients’ Choice Award (2013, 2012, 2009, 2008).
She has been married over 30 years to Glen Mannisto, poet, professor and art critic. They have two adult daughters who get credit for being great teachers in pediatrics. They have no grandchildren yet but have 2 Labrador’s which are like having perpetual toddlers! She enjoys baking, especially trying to master the perfect pie, beading jewelry, reading Scandinavian mysteries, going for walks, and going to their family cottage in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
