Get to know Cardiologist Dr. William E. Battle, who serves patients in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Dr. Battle is a board-certified cardiologist with over 45 years of experience. He specializes in all facets of his specialty, including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, echocardiography, stress testing, and valvular heart disease. 

Dr. Battle is currently serving patients at CardioCare in Chevy Chase, Maryland. CardioCare is a unique, forward-thinking cardiology practice that strives for excellence in all aspects of service. Dedicated to delivering unparalleled cardiovascular care, the physicians working there understand the importance of promoting preventive heart health and overall wellness. Dr. Battle earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following medical school, he completed his residency at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Battle also attended the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base. He then went on to complete his cardiovascular fellowship at the Tufts New England Medical Center Hospitals.

Dr. Battle is board-certified in both cardiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In recognition of his long history of public service with the Archdiocesan Health Care Network, President George Bush awarded Dr. Battle the “Points of Light” Award in 1991. Dr. Battle is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association. Additionally, Dr. Battle has privileges with Suburban Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital.

Cardiology is the study and treatment of disorders of the heart and the blood vessels. A person with heart disease or cardiovascular disease may be referred to a cardiologist. A cardiologist is not the same as a cardiac surgeon. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
