In 1995, Dr. Wiesman earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He then went on to complete five years of training in general surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital – a Northwestern University Affiliate. Following his training, he completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. He then finished his training in plastic surgery at SUMMA Health Systems in Ohio.
Dr. Wiesman has presented many papers throughout the country. He has also been published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He is currently involved with teaching residents in Chicago-area training programs.
Dr. Wiesman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Wiesman is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Dr. Wiesman is also board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The ABPS is a certifying board for plastic surgeons in the United States. It was organized as a subsidiary of the American Board of Surgery in 1938, and given the status of a major specialty board in 1941.
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the face and body. In addition to skin rejuvenation and cosmetic medical procedures, Dr. Wiesman also performs hand and microvascular surgeries. These surgeries are used to treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, dupuytren’s contracture, rheumatoid arthritis, tennis elbow, trigger finger, and tendinitis. Dr. Wiesman also treats patients with congenital deformities, hand injuries, and acute trauma and fractures.
