Educated in the United States, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in 1963. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1969, before completing a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of California, San Francisco in 1976.

Holding a license to practice medicine in California, the doctor is board-certified in radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
