In 1976, Dr. Tassy earned his medical degree from Universite de Montreal Faculty of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital and a residency in hematology at University Hospital SUNY Health Science Center, in Brooklyn. 

Dr. Tassy is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

As an internist, Dr. Tassy is specialized in Hematology and Oncology.
