A fellowship-trained interventional pain specialist, Dr. Aust serves patients at his private practice, Dr. Aust Interventional Pain, in Louisiana. He has three office locations: Slidell, Metairie, and Thibodaux. Dr. Aust relocated to Louisiana from Los Angeles, California, after living in that area for much of his life. Dr. Aust has extensive experience in successfully treating rare conditions. Dr. Aust is licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana and California.

“Dr. Aust learned to optimally manage patients with refractory pain that were unsuccessfully treated by multiple providers over many years without relief, allowing those patients to finally live pain free. He is comfortable with a wide arsenal of both “bread and butter” and less often seen interventional techniques. He has significant experience with Spinal Cord Stimulation and is a national educator for Intrathecal Pump implantation and management”, states the official website of Aust Interventional Pain.

Dr. Aust attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and graduated with his medical degree in 2010. He then pursued a residency in anesthesiology at the UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, California (2010-2014), where he was honored as Resident of the Year. Dr. Aust remained at UCLA and conducted a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in anesthesiology and the subspeciality of pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently conducting research with IT pump therapy as part of a national multi-center study to improve pump therapy for all patients.

Dr. Aust’s philosophy is to identify and target the source of a patient’s pain using interventional techniques and minimally invasive surgeries to reduce or eliminate the need for oral opioids and other chronic medications for pain.  He particularly enjoys helping patients with complex, difficult to treat pain who have failed to achieve relief from multiple providers.
