Dr. Putnam, an esteemed orthopaedic surgeon, specializes in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He is the Founder of Putnam Orthopaedic Center in Springfield, Missouri. 

In addition, he is affiliated with several hospitals in the local area, including Cox Medical Center South & Meyer Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital. Both are a part of CoxHealth, which is only locally owned, not-for-profit health system based in Springfield. The mission of the health system is “to improve the health of the communities we serve through quality health care, education, and research.”

Back in 1983, Dr. Putnam earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. A year later, in 1984, he completed his internship in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Philadelphia. This was followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1988.

Continuously excelling in his field, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. 

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
