Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Maricela M. Tassy, who serves patients in Miami, Florida.

Treating adults 18 – 65 +, Dr. Tassy is an osteopathic emergency physician who can be found on staff at Baptist Hospital of Miami.

Baptist Hospital of Miami is a non-profit hospital located in Miami, Florida, United States, operated by Baptist Health South Florida. Founded in 1960, the 650-bed facility is now one of the largest hospitals in the Miami area, with a mission “to improve the health and well-being of individuals, and to promote the sanctity and preservation of life, in the communities we serve.”

Back in 2009, Dr. Tassy graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. She then went on to perform her residency in emergency medicine at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in 2013.

Three years later, in 2016, she attained board certification in emergency medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). The AOBEM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of acutely ill patients with advanced cardiac life support, trauma, and the management of other life-threatening medical issues (emergency physicians).

In order to stay up to date in her field, Dr. Tassy remains an active member of the American Osteopathic Association.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
