A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Garza sees patients at his private practice in New York, New York. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Assisted Outpatient Treatment, or “Kendra’s Law,” Program at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, for Queens County, and holds a faculty position within the Department of Psychiatry at the NYU Langone Medical School.
With a broad educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Columbia University, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and went on to complete his internship and residency in psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Finally, he completed a fellowship in public psychiatry at Columbia University.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Giving back to the community, Dr. Garza serves as a consulting psychiatrist for the Michael Callen-Audre Lorde Community Health Center’s Health Outreach To Teens (HOTT) program, a premiere LGBT youth primary care clinic, and is a consulting psychiatrist for the SCO Family of Services, LGBT foster group homes. He also teaches at both local and national levels on the health of racial and sexual minorities, commitment law, adolescent mental health, and substance abuse.
