Originally from Frankfurt, Germany, Dr. Thiele graduated summa cum laude from JW Goethe University. He completed his internship at the University of Chicago Hospital and received his residency in dermatology at Boston University and Tufts University, where he also served as Chief Resident. He then completed an additional one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery (American College of Mohs Surgery, ACMS). He is currently the only ACMS fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon in the Temecula and Murrieta area.
In addition to his expertise in Mohs surgery, Dr. Thiele is an internationally renowned expert on oxidative stages and photocarcinogenesis. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in scientific and medical journals and books, as well as has made conference contributions at numerous national and international meetings.
Currently on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science and The Open Dermatology Journal, the doctor is associated with several professional organizations and societies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (serving as a member of the Task Force Clinical Research), a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatology Surgery, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

On a more personal note, he is married to a San Diego native and has one daughter and two sons. In his free time, he loves spending time with his family hiking or biking – with sunscreen reapplied every 2 hours, of course!
