Get to know Pain Management Specialist Dr. Baher Yanni, who serves the Hightstown, New Jersey area at his private practice and several area hospitals.

Dr. Yanni completed medical school at Cairo University School of Medicine with highest honors. He then moved to Los Angeles to join the department of surgery for a postdoctoral fellowship in surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine. After his postdoctoral fellowship, he completed a surgical internship where he rotated through multiple surgical specialties, including neurosurgery. He finished his anesthesia residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in the top five percent of his peers. To complete his formal training, Dr. Yanni completed a comprehensive fellowship in interventional pain management at the New Jersey Pain Institute.

Specializing in the spine, Dr. Yanni has been doubly certified in Anesthesia and Interventional Pain Medicine Physician by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He also conducts teaching courses and seminars for other physicians on the performance of endoscopic procedures and spinal cord stimulators. Dr. Yanni is on the teaching panel for Richard Wolf Endoscopy and St. Jude Medical. His professional interests include the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, sports injuries, neck and spinal disorders, cancer pain, complex regional pain syndrome (reflex sympathetic dystrophy), post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles), and many other acute and chronic pain syndromes.

Dr. Yanni attends both domestic and international seminars to maintain and continue to develop his position as a spine specialist and leader in the field of pain management. He has participated in the 52nd International Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Symposium in Seoul, South Korea, the first World Congress of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery in Hawaii, St Anna Hospital in Herne, Germany, and numerous Spinal Endoscopy Seminar Series. Dr. Yanni has conducted significant research in the areas of enhancing the safety of pain procedures, as well as developing less-invasive pain treatment technologies.

A pain management specialist is a physician with special training in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of all different types of pain. Pain is actually a wide spectrum of disorders including acute pain, chronic pain and cancer pain and sometimes a combination of these. Pain can also arise for many different reasons such as surgery, injury, nerve damage, and metabolic problems such as diabetes.
