Dr. Vijaya Radhakrishna is a highly respected and experienced physician, having been in practice for over forty-five years. In 1980, after successfully completing her two-year residency in Pediatrics at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and one year of special training in Pediatric ICU and Infectious Diseases at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Radhakrishna started her practice, which has since been providing top-rated care for children, from newborns to age twenty-one. Dr. Radhakrishna received her postgraduate degree in Pediatrics from India following three years of meticulous training in all aspects of child health and illnesses. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Radhakrishna has been garnered with numerous awards and distinctions, including gold medals and the highest rank from a prestigious South Indian medical college. Apart from her work as a physician, Dr. Radhakrishna serves as a Professor of Pediatrics at RWJH Medical School, where she oversees Pre-Med and Medical students, as well has Pediatric residents. She has stood as a department chairman for both JFK Medical Center and Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, while she served on a number of hospital committees throughout New Jersey. She has been presented with teaching awards from Drexel, New Brunswick University Hospitals, Monmouth, and Pace. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. A paediatrician is a child’s physician who provides not only medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill but also preventive health services for healthy children. A paediatrician manages physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children under their care at every stage of development, in both sickness and health. Apart from her medical career, Dr. Radhakrishna enjoys playing tennis, ballroom dancing, playing the piano, and Kamatak music, a system of music commonly associated with the various cultures of Southern India. She is fluent in several Indian languages, as well as Spanish. Dr. Radhakrishna has two children who are also accomplished physicians (her son is a pediatric rheumatologist and her daughter is a DNP). She also has four grandchildren, all of whom inspire her to add ongoing fun and passion to her profession.
