Graduating with the class of 1983 from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Omari went on to perform his internship in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He then furthered his training with a residency in general surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is dual board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Omari is a member of several national and international scientific medical organizations. And he is on the Board of Directors of House Of Lebanon, and National Arab American Medical Association.
Among Dr. Omari’s areas of research focus include coronary artery bypass surgery, endocarditis, pulmonary embolectomy, valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive valve surgery, and atrial natriuretic hormone in heart surgery.
Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax.
