He can perform any modern dental procedure, ranging from cosmetic dentistry involving veneers, tooth-colored fillings, porcelain crowns, and bleaching to root canal therapy, orthodontics, and oral surgery. 

Periodontal procedures like gum and bone surgery are executed with patience and care. Oral surgery and implant work, such as tooth replacement with immediate loaded implants right after extraction, are offered and skillfully performed on the spot. Dr. Shalmi does all non-surgical and non-extraction orthodontic treatments with functional appliances. Any kind of removable dentures, as well as non surgical and versatile braces for both children and adults, are available.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Shalmi received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the NYU College of Dentistry. He graduated from this highly acclaimed program in 1995 and immediately went on to complete his General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Staten Island University Hospital, completing his training by June of 1996. He used his time as a resident to strive for challenging material by actively engaging in several disciplines such as oral surgery (extraction of impacted wisdom teeth), endodontics (root canal treatment), periodontics (gum treatment), pediatric dentistry, orthodontics (non-surgical braces for children and adults), and cosmetic dentistry, allowing a genuine affinity and confidence in the craft of dentistry.

Courageously, he jumped into establishing his own private practice that he built from scratch in Riverdale, Bronx. Riverdale Dental Care opened its doors to the public in September of 1996. This state-of-the-art dental office, combined with his constantly evolving expertise, allows Dr. Shalmi to properly diagnose and give all the options of treatment available on the dental market today.

Since 1993, he has been an active member of the American Dental Association. He is also a member of the New York State Dental Association and the Bronx County Dental Society.
