Named “Most Outstanding Graduate” when she graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University, Dr. Dickerson obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School with a 4.0 GPA and awards in internal medicine and dermatology. Pursuing the latest techniques emerging from the field, she completed a year of internal medicine training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and then a residency in dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she served as chief resident.
In order to provide her patients with the education and experience needed to administer the best medical care, she remains a member of numerous professional organizations. These include: the American Academy of Dermatology, the Louisiana Dermatological Society, the Baton Rouge Dermatological Society, and the Christian Medical and Dental Societies.
Passionate about her profession, Dr. Dickerson is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin.
