Get to know Cardiothoracic Radiologist Dr. Giovanni Lorenz, who serves patients in Texas.

An accomplished cardiothoracic radiologist, Dr. Lorenz is affiliated with DocPanel, tending to patients in San Antonio, Texas and across the nation. With his extensive training and expertise, he has become a pioneer in reshaping the standard workflow for outpatient cardiac MRI procedures, revolutionizing the way these exams are conducted.

His medical journey began at Touro University Medical School, where he acquired a solid understanding of the fundamentals of medicine. He then went on to complete his internship at Valley Medical Center, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at the San Antonio Uniformed Health Service Education Center (SAUSHEC). Finally, he completed his fellowship in cardiothoracic radiology at the renowned Cleveland Clinic.

Serving over 18yrs in fuels operation, high performance aircraft flight medicine, logging over 60hrs in combat duty over Iraq, Afghanistan and Horn of Africa.

Among Dr. Lorenz’s most notable contributions to the field in his innovative approach to cardiac MRI protocols. Recognizing the need for efficiency and patient comfort, he worked tirelessly to optimize the protocols used in these exams. Through his pioneering efforts, he successfully reduced the average exam times from 1-2 hours to an impressive 30 minutes.

Distinguished as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, Dr. Lorenz serves as an Associate Professor for the medical school and residency programs at SAUSHEC, USUHS (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) and UIW (University of the Incarnate Word). He is a Primary Investigator for multiple advanced cardiac imaging research projects in the DoD investigating circadian rhythm, burn pit exposure and myocardits. Dr. Lorenz is a senior medical expert and helped to orchestrate Lung Cancer Screening and advanced cardiac imaging solutions while serving in the Air Force.
