Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Susan Roth Pitman, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Pitman, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, believes that everything we go through in life has the potential to affect our health. This belief dictates her practice style and allows for a personalized doctor-patient relationship.

Currently, she is affiliated with Summit Medical Group in Livingston, New Jersey. Recognized as New Jersey’s premier multispecialty medical group, Summit Medical Group has more than 80 locations in seven northern New Jersey counties. Alongside her position at Summit Medical Group, Dr. Pitman has served as Chair of the Department of Gynecology at Short Hills Surgery Center in Millburn, New Jersey. Short Hills Surgery Center in Millburn brings together over seventy specialists who are committed to providing the highest quality care in the safest environment possible.

Having been in practice for over 30 years, the early years with her father, Dr. Edward Roth, she earned her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois in 1985. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. What’s more, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics, covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, and gynecology, covering the health of the female reproductive system, the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. “Carefully listening to and getting to know my patients helps me understand what influences their health. I respect my patients, help educate them about health and prevention, partner with them in decisions about their health and well-being, and treat them as a whole.” stated Dr. Pitman.

Among her philanthropic endeavors, she is a supporter of the Melanoma Research Fund, Planned Parenthood, the Jewish National Fund, and the Magen David Adom. Outside of the office, she enjoys skiing, reading, traveling, going to the beach, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her husband and beloved family. Her favorite place to vacation is Cape May in New Jersey.
