Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Dennis Petrocelli, who serves patients in Richmond, Virginia.

An established psychiatrist, Dr. Petrocelli sees patients at his private practice in Richmond, Virginia. He specializes in consulting & forensic psychiatry, substance use disorders, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.

Back in 1994, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Medical Science from Boston University, and earned his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his internship, residency in psychiatry, and fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the same educational venue, and completed an additional fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Holding a license to practice medicine in Virginia, Dr. Petrocelli can be found on staff at Central State Hospital, St. Brides Correctional Center General Population, and Greensville Correctional Center General Population.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
