Back in 1999, he graduated with his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. After completing his residency in internal medicine at the Berkshire Medical Center in 2001, he completed a residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2004, and a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2006.
