A Kenner native, Dr. Brahney graduated with honors, earning a degree in Biology from Loyola University New Orleans. During her time as an undergraduate, she received a fellowship from the American Society of Microbiology and was a contributing author to an article in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine.
Recipient of a scholarship, Dr. Brahney moved to New York City, where she graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2003.
Understanding the value of continuing education, she attends classes regularly to stay abreast of the most current techniques and concepts in dentistry. She is a member of the prestigious F. Harold Wirth Study Club, a Faculty Club member in Spear Education, and a member of several professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the New Orleans Dental Association, where she has served as a host at annual meetings.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries, create beautiful smiles, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Recognized for excellence over the years, Dr. Brahney was chosen as a Patient’s Choice winner by Opencare in 2015. She was also selected by a vote of her peers to be included in the database of topDentists, for which she was featured in New Orleans Magazine in June 2016, June 2017, June 2018, June 2019, and 2020.

Giving back is very important to Dr. Brahney. She has been on the executive board for Lindy’s Place, a residence for homeless women, in addition to supporting various other charitable organizations. A staunch supporter of the arts, she has served on the board of the Jefferson Ballet Theatre.
When she goes home, Dr. Brahney delights in being a wife and mother and spends an inordinate amount of time cooking for friends and family. She resides in Kenner with her husband and young daughter.
