Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Jamie Brown, who serves patients in Maryland.

Dr. Brown is a well-versed cardiothoracic surgeon whose special interests include heart and vascular surgery & thoracic surgery. He is affiliated with UM Prince George’s Hospital Center & the University of Maryland Medical Center.

UM Prince George’s Hospital Center is an acute care teaching hospital and regional referral center in Cheverly, Maryland. It is committed to sustaining an innovative environment for providers and students to help them deliver exceptional patient care. 

The University of Maryland Medical Center is a teaching hospital with 757 beds based in Baltimore, Maryland, that provides the full range of health care to people throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. It gets more than 35,000 inpatient admissions and 165,000 outpatient visits each year.

A 1985 graduate of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Brown went on to perform his residency at Anschutz Medical Campus in 1994.

Dedicated to excellence in heart health, the doctor is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, which is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Brown serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax. Cardiothoracic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgical procedures inside the thorax, which may involve the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.
