Throughout his academic career, he graduated with his medical degree from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine in 2001. He then went on to complete his internship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in 2002, and his residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2005.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
