As a woman of color, supporting other men and women of color facing challenges and embarrassment associated with hair growth, including women with male-patterned facial hair known as hirsutism, skin conditions including those induced by ingrown hairs such as acute folliculitis and pseudo barbae folliculitis, hyperpigmentation, hidradenitis suppurativa, and pilonidal cyst recurrence reduction, is of great importance to her.
A proud West Indies – Southern bred native, Dr. Nisbeth was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Throughout her entire life, she had always had an ambitious desire to be of service to others and add value to the world in some impactful way. For those reasons, she spent most of her life striving to become a medical doctor.
A graduate of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Nisbeth completed her residency in family medicine at Ascension St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Center in Jacksonville. She became a family medicine physician because she wanted to be a resource and provider of the most essential care to as many people as possible, especially family, friends, and her local community.
However, early in her career, Dr. Nisbeth became disappointed in the medical profession and healthcare system. When she stepped away in 2021, she founded I AM Dr. ZEE, incorporated to reclaim who and what she is here to do, which is I-nspire, M-otivate, E-ducate, and E-mpower one person, one family, one neighborhood, one community, and one nation at a time.
Passionate about the care she provides and how it can impact and transform lives, Dr. Zee’s approach to healthcare and laser hair removal services is patient-focused, ensuring that everyone is receiving the best possible care possible.
Delivering healthcare that heals and transforms lives, she is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Nisbeth finds pleasure in playing golf, tennis, and gardening. Her preferred vacation destination includes places with beautiful beaches, and she particularly enjoys reading Scientific American as her favorite professional publication.
