Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Gail T. Tominaga, who serves patients in La Jolla, California.

An excellent general surgeon specializing in trauma surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Tominaga is the Chief of Trauma Service at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla has served the greater San Diego community since 1924. Nearly 100 years later, they continue to provide some of the region’s most distinguished care, including several nationally ranked specialty programs.

Academically, Dr. Tominaga earned her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1984. She then went on to complete her residency in general surgery and her fellowship in surgical critical care at the same educational venue in 1989 and 1990, respectively.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor attained board certification in general surgery and surgical critical care through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

In her professional experience, she can also be found on staff at Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
