Allen A. Alvarez received his Medical Degree in 2003 from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where he graduated with top honors and earned clinical rotations in Baja California and Chiapas. Thereafter, he completed his five-year residency in General Surgery at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City, where he served World Trade Center victims as a chief resident and leader in trauma, acute care, and vascular care. Additionally, Dr. Alvarez completed his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of the Incarnate World, after which he gained hands-on patient care experience across the country, including Honolulu and Miami. Dr. Alvarez is an active member of the American Medical Association and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a highly respected bariatric surgeon who has been practicing for over 15 years and is currently serving patients at Sage Bariatric Institute in San Antonio, Texas. It is there that he offers his patients a wide variety of robotic and laparoscopic options for treating obesity, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and gastric balloon.
