Get to know Dentist Dr. Michael Gelfand, who serves patients in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Gelfand blends his unmatched skill in general dentistry with a genuine love for his work. He is the first and last dentist your family will ever need, treating patients of all ages at Family Smile Dental with two offices in Brooklyn, New York.

In private practice since 2006, he has excelled in all areas of general dentistry and has also become a top Invisalign provider in the area. He works alongside Drs. Irlin and Suler, offering services such as dental implants, endodontics, periodontal therapy, laser therapy, oral surgery, preventative care, and more.

Academically, Dr. Gelfand earned his undergraduate degree from Long Island University with a major in Biology and a minor in Art before moving on to the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following this program, he completed a General Practice Residency at Long Island College Hospital. 

He is certified in the treatment of sleep apnea and Invisalign, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, the American Orthodontic Society, the American Academy of Clear Aligners, and the Second District Dental Society.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.  

On a more personal note, Dr. Gelfand lives in Brooklyn with his wife and three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
