An established obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Carbiener is a partner at Halifax OB/GYN Associates, a group practice in Daytona Beach, since 1992. She and her partners practice obstetrics and gynecology at Halifax Health and Advent Daytona Beach. She also serves as the Clerkship Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Florida State University College of Medicine Daytona Beach Campus, where she coordinates the OB/GYN curriculum and training of the third- and fourth-year medical students.
Graduating from Purdue University in 1983, she earned her medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 1988. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital in 1992 and came to Daytona Beach at that time.
She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, AOA, and Gold Humanism Society.
Dr. Carbiener has served in the past as department chair, chief of staff, and on the board of commissioners for Halifax Health. She is the current board president for the Healthy Start Coalition of Flager/Volousia, which networks pregnant women and new mothers to services. She is on the board of the Bert Fish Foundation, which supports healthcare initiatives and medical education in her region. She participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative and the Florida Maternal Mental Behavioral Impact Group. Dr. Carbiener is an active member of the Volusia County Medical Society, the Florida Medical Society, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She is involved in initiatives to increase access to prenatal care for underserved populations, including those with mental health issues, homelessness and substance use disorder. Another focus is menopausal health for patients that she has cared for during her three decades of practice.
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
On a more personal note, Dr. Carbiener attributes her success to the support she has received from her family, and her ability to accurately recognize her patients’ needs.
