Not in any way. If you have side effects those go away when you stop the medication. There are no long term negative effects and if SSRIs are effective for symptoms, the symptoms are usually more dangerous to the individual than transient medication side effects. READ MORE

Only if you find they make you more hungry and you take in more calories. They can’t cause weight gain without you eating more calories. Most do not cause increased hunger. READ MORE
When should you see a doctor for anxiety?
When anxiety interferes with activities of daily life, you should see a doctor, ideally a psychiatrist. Very important: as some doctors are less aware of the range of treatments, do NOT get started on daily doses of tranquilizers like Valium (diazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), or Xanax (alprazolam). That leads to greater depression and worse anxiety if you skip a dose. Tranquilizers are good for occasional use, but not daily use. READ MORE
