  • How are hemorrhoids treated in elderly people?

    By definition, everyone has “hemorrhoids.” We were born with them. I instruct patients they are the normal flooding and/or “pleats” at the junction of the anus and rectum. They allow for the anal canal to expand and open during defecation. If the hemorrhoidal tissue becomes larger in size, it becomes bothersome.
