Get to know Internist Dr. Rekha Sharma, who serves patients in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Dr. Sharma is a highly trained internist working with patients at her private practice in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

A native of India, she earned her medical degree from the Sawai Man Singh Medical College in 1980. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her internship at the United Hospital and Medical Center in 1996, and her residency in internal medicine at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 1999.

As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Among her other roles, Dr. Sharma maintains hospital privileges at the Overlook Medical Center, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and Trinitas Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Sharma is a firm believer in putting her patients first. Her passion is truly helping her patients and she dedicates her time to make sure that each patient is listened to and leaves her office with proper understanding and confidence. She is an advocate of compassionate healthcare and believes being compassionate is one of her biggest responsibilities as a physician.
