The practice’s core values include providing optimum individualized physical therapy, listening to and treating each patient based on their unique needs, creating a positive and energetic support system to meet patients’ health goals, as well as being influential leaders in health and fitness who strive with integrity and embrace lifelong education. Dr. Umina’s main objective is to educate her community on the benefits of leading a healthy and active lifestyle while inspiring them to achieve their wellness goals. 

Early in her life, she became an athlete playing soccer. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Sports Medicine from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. She went on to earn her Master of Science (MS) degree in Physical Therapy from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. 

Throughout college and graduate school, Dr. Umina became very interested in health and fitness, running outside every day and weight training 4 to 5 times a week. Years later, she went on to train intensely and compete in fitness competitions, which she enjoyed very much.  

In addition to being a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the doctor is board-certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The ABPMR was established in 1947 as the certifying body for the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation under the American Board of Medical Specialties. The Board certifies both allopathic and osteopathic physicians. 

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. 

With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Umina attributes her successful career as a result of the support she receives from her family, as well as her drive and passion for the health and wellness aspect of life.

Happily married with three children, she tries to be a positive, healthy role model for them every day. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, skiing, and traveling. Her parents were born in Greece and she travels there often. She is fluent in Greek.
