Dr. Kurli is the only fellowship-trained ophthalmologist in both vitreoretinal disorders and ophthalmic oncology in the Phoenix Metro area. She opened Advanced Retina and Eye Cancer Center in January of 2014, with offices in Surprise and Phoenix, Arizona.

Advanced Retina and Eye Cancer Center specializes in medical and surgical treatment of retinal disorders and specific cancers of the eye. In addition to providing the highest quality care, the Center partners with patients to ensure they receive the information they need to make the best decisions in their treatment.

Academically, Dr. Kurli went to medical school in India (Chennai Medical College) and trained in ophthalmology in the United Kingdom. She completed her internship at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan in 2006, and two fellowships — vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology — at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where she was granted the ‘Best Outgoing Resident’ Award.

With a focus on eye and vision care, she is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

On a more personal note, Dr Kurli lives with her husband and two sons in Scottsdale. She spends her free time with her friends and family.
